Upcoming Events
Burton Group Catalyst Confernece
June 23-27, San Deigo, CA
Thetus solution partner CommIT will represent Thetus at
the Burton Group Catalyst Conference June 23-27 in San
Diego. Context Architect Cameron Hunt will present at this
acclaimed event that brings IT leaders together to learn about and discuss today’s most significant technology topics and complex issues faced by enterprise organizations. As part of the Information Architecture Renaissance track at the conference, Cam will discuss Beyond Data: Managing Context Throughout the Enterprise.
Today's enterprise has more unstructured data, streaming through more information channels, than most information architects might have predicted just a few years ago. To manage these volumes of information and support valuable data services, many organizations have adopted the principles of service-oriented architecture (SOA) as a foundation for their IT infrastructures. However, even the most rigorous SOA implementations can leave organizations and users smarting from a deficit in automated processes and comprehensive knowledge bases – particularly in light of explosive trends in data growth.
With the advent of enterprise-class semantic technologies, a new layer of capabilities has been added to what SOA has traditionally provided. Foremost among them is context management. With Semantic SOA, data services are no longer tethered to source schema or data structure; by applying a context management framework across the architecture, Semantic SOA delivers the right services and data based on the situation, with the flexibility to accommodate new and/or massive data sources in real-time. For users, this means their interactions become more dynamic based on role, process and platform, with greater power over their own knowledge environments. For enterprises, it means greater automation of a more robust information production process, optimizing human and IT resources to generate more and better knowledge. This presentation will provide an overview of best practices in designing and deploying a Semantic SOA, including relevant use case examples and illustrated by a real-world Semantic SOA deployment.
