Thetus Partners with MetaCarta to Deliver Integrated Solution for Maximizing the Value of Geospatial Information
November 09, 2006—Portland, Oregon—Thetus Corporation, a developer of knowledge modeling and discovery infrastructure software, today announced a technology partnership with MetaCarta, Inc., a leading provider of geographic intelligence solutions. The joint product integration will enable customers to dramatically improve the speed, efficiency, and effectiveness at which they can leverage and act upon location-based information. The solution will combine MetaCarta’s GeoTagger product with the Thetus Publisher to extract and incorporate geo-referenced information into a dynamic knowledge model—enabling users to more efficiently search, relate, reuse, and benefit from a unified view of spatial data and non-spatial knowledge.
Spatial data is a critical component of multi-source, multi-faceted knowledge models increasingly common in enterprises flooded with diverse data. This data requires efficient, automated processing and extraction to derive actionable knowledge and maximize reuse of information assets. The integrated solution will serve markets with high-value data and rapidly-evolving demands including energy; oil and gas; and intelligence and defense.
“A tremendous amount of information includes a spatial component,” said Danielle Forsyth, Thetus founder and CEO. “We’re excited to be working with a partner who understands the power of creating a framework in which relationships among geographic information can persist and evolve to meet a variety of objectives across a range of disciplines.”
The integrated solution will combine Thetus’ knowledge modeling and workflow management with the MetaCarta GeoTagger’s unique ability to parse documents, and make information geographically relevant. Thetus Publisher will automatically route data to the appropriate analytic and index the extracted metadata, making it instantly available for users and applications through Thetus’ semantic search engine, automated workflow, and comprehensive lineage tracking—providing ubiquitous access to evolving knowledge regardless of data location or format.
“When you look at the core competencies of these products, it’s easy to understand why we’ve chosen to partner with Thetus” said Ron Matros, President and CEO of MetaCarta. “This synergy of complementary technologies provides a solution that truly extends the value of our GeoTagger product by making the most of geo-referenced metadata.”
