Thetus Brings Powerful Semantic Knowledge Modeling for Defense and Intelligence Communities to GEOINT

Exhibits with Microsoft, Carahsoft and IN-Q-TEL showcase Thetus semantic technology for geospatial intelligence application

October 22, 2007—Portland, Ore. and San Antonio—Thetus Corporation, a leading provider of semantic knowledge modeling and discovery software, will demonstrate the integration of its flagship enterprise solution, the Thetus Publisher™, with the Microsoft® Virtual Earth™ platform at the annual GEOINT Symposium held October 21-24 in San Antonio, Texas. This integrated solution enables military and intelligence professionals to capture and analyze large volumes of disparate data, resulting in enhanced situational awareness and improved decision-making capabilities.

“By integrating Virtual Earth into its solution set, Thetus can help customers advance their geospatial intelligence capabilities,” said Stephen Lawler, Microsoft’s Virtual Earth general manager of development. “Situational awareness is critical for organizations that use evolving data to make faster and more informed decisions. Thetus’ semantic technology, paired with Virtual Earth, gives customers a powerful tool to visualize and bring clarity to geospatial components, which are found in most public sector data— ultimately making that information more actionable.”

The GEOINT Symposium is sponsored by the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) and focuses on collaboration and integration of cutting-edge geospatial intelligence technologies that address national security objectives. At GEOINT, Thetus will demonstrate the integration of its semantic technology with the Microsoft Virtual Earth platform in Microsoft booth #167. Thetus will also demonstrate the same solution with channel partner Carahsoft in booth #661 and with venture group IN-Q-TEL in booth #711.

Thetus Publisher is highly differentiated enterprise software that, through the use of semantics, empowers users to search, visualize, verify and relate critical geospatial intelligence data. Through an intuitive, browser-based user interface paired with advanced mapping software and automated workflow tools, the Publisher dramatically reduces the time and resources intelligence analysts must invest in data collection and assembly, allowing more time for critical analysis and decision-making. It also extends the ways in which complex information from a wide range of sources can be discovered, assembled and modeled to provide intelligence professionals rapid access to relevant, understandable knowledge. Thetus software is designed for maximum interoperability with complementary applications, database technologies, and service-oriented architectures (SOAs).

“Virtual Earth provides us with a platform for delivering knowledge in a landscape accessible to all,” said Danielle Forsyth, founder and CEO of Thetus. “Integrated with the Thetus Publisher, the combined capability allows organizations to use and share valuable knowledge assets quickly and easily—accelerating the understanding of both analysts and recipients of intelligence products."

Leveraging the power of semantics, Thetus Publisher allows organizations to model complex systems and to understand how they change over time. This approach facilitates critical intelligence and analysis capabilities such as secure collaboration across organizations and codification of confidence models essential for decision makers. Thetus semantic technology filters contextual data for all concepts and relationships in the knowledge model, enabling weighting of information based on confidence for hypothesis testing, definition of policy-based access to sensitive data, and comprehensive history tracking essential to model optimization. When integrated with Virtual Earth, the Publisher further extends the richness and value of available information within a map-based environment.

About Thetus Corporation

The Thetus approach to knowledge management supports predictive modeling, outcome evaluation, and ongoing development of best practices. Thetus leverages semantic web technologies to provide software that complements and enhances traditional information management systems, enabling analysts to interact with knowledge using the familiar language of their domain—not the language of the data. Founded in 2002, Thetus is a privately held corporation headquartered in Portland, Oregon. Learn more at www.thetus.com.
